March 11, 2014Schneider Electric is a France-based multinational corporation that specializes in electricity distribution, automation management, and production of installation components for energy management. On 17 January 2014, the company announced that it had completed its acquisition of Invensys, a multinational engineering and information technology company. Invensys brings proven capabilities in process automation technologies that highly complement Schneider Electric, offering customers unique value in terms of segment know-how, technologies, and geographic footprint.
Invensys’ subsidiaries include Eurotherm (measurement and instrumentation for process control), Chessell (recording, monitoring and data acquisition equipment), Foxboro (distributed control systems), and Wonderware (operations management and industrial automation software). These companies are key providers to the comprehensive NSI product line for complete industrial automation solutions for all aspects of plant operations and processes.
